    Ethics and Professional Deontology are the pillars of all professional activities, particularly Tourism. As this is an exclusively human activity in which all services and products aim to satisfy leisure-related needs in various aspects, professionals must have solid professional and academic training in these areas. The theme of Human Rights linked to the 17 objectives of the UN for the Sustainable Development of the Planet will also be a theme of this UC.

Ethics and Deontology regarding the Tourism employment relationship.

    At the end of the semester, students should know the concepts and legislation related to ethics and professional deontology and their importance for a good professional performance. The students should also know the position of the authors on this theme along the time from the basic concepts of Emanuel Kant and Stuart Mill. The theme of human rights will be addressed in order to encourage students to issues related to the sustainability of the planet according to the position of the UN and adopted by the WTO. Ethics and Professional Deontology in Tourism aims to equip students with the knowledge and transversal domain of the ethical and deontological principles and rules applicable in the framework of a Tourism Employment Relationship.

  • MetodologiaMethodology
    The expositive method will be used in theoretical classes with collective participation in the (re)construction of concepts and in the analysis of varied information. In practical classes, the development of reflections, presentations and discussion before the collective, synthesis works with practical cases. Regarding the regime of continuous evaluation, the following methods will be used: Written work with face-to-face defence (50%); Continuous evaluation (30%); and Assiduity (20%). In the regime of evaluation by the final exam, the final grade to be attributed to the student corresponds to the grade obtained in the respective Final Exam.
